Essential Skills

 

The three specialized skills that I believe a computer programmer should have are communication skills, problem solving skills, and learning skills. The reasons that one should have communication skills, is because it allows them to have better communication between team members and teachers. As a team member, one should allow be able to communicate with one another, and this is vitally important as a computer programmer. Most of the time, computer programmers work in teams, so having good communication amongst members and making sure that everyone is on the right page, will allow everyone to succeed in the project. In addition, problem solving skills are also very important. As a computer programmer, your main task is to problem solve and fix bugs in codes. Even as a software programmer, one will have to figure out the problem of creating user-friendly software that will remain competitive for as long as possible in the market. Lastly, for learning skills, as a computer programmer, you are constantly learning. Even if you have finished university, you should still continue to certify yourself in more areas to ensure your competitiveness. Plus, every time you complete a project, you will learn something from it. It could be team work skills, more coding knowledge, or many more. Having good learning skills will help someone improve their ability to adapt and keep up with the fast paced technology.
